Gastric Bypass
I just wanted to talk for a minute on Gastric Bypass. In 2006 I weighed 330 pounds and was as out of shape as I had ever been in my life. At 41 years old I was a wreck. I had started researching the lapband procedure that places a constrictive band around the top of ones stomach to reduce the intake of food. The more i researched this the more i realized that more people failed with this than succeeded. As i kept digging thru websites i ran across a process called the Mini MGB, or Mini Gastric Bypass. Their website is CLOS.NET and is out of LasVegas NEvada. I wasnt interested in Any type of Bypass surgery because my history included a paramedic/Firefighter years earlier, with 3 years in a top 100 Hospital ER. During those three years I saw a large number of patients that had the RnY gastric bypass, and they all had some sort of complication with their surgery. Yea they all were losing weight, but they also were having abdominal cramps, bleeding, ulcers and a number of other ailments. But reading on teh CLOS site, i discovered a new approach to bypass, that was revolutionary and the complications were less than .001% of the total patient load. Mortality was 0% (yes thats ZERO percent), and surgery time was on average 30 minutes plus only one night in the hospital as opposed to 3 days with the RnY bypass. The MiniGBP was also the only gastric bypass surgery that was REVERSABLE... I called the surgery center and talked to the surgon that actually preformed the surgery. His name is Dr. Rutledge and one of the nicest men you will ever meet. Anyway after talking to him, and his secrtary (that was also a patient) myself and my sister decided to have the surgery. Now after 18 months post op, 130 pounds lost, healthy feeling, never a problem for me or my sis, life is GREAT, and anyone with a weight problem, you should look into it. And my word of warning is before doing a lap band, look into gastric bypass, and before deciding on gastric bypass, please, please please, look into the Mini GB. www.clos.net is the information source. Its safer, quicker, no down time, no mortality rate, and all around a better choice for you. Do yourself a favor and researh this alternative surgery before making a decision. Its worth it. 18 months ago Size 42 jeans, today, size 32, fit, happy and healthy as hell. I wouldnt have it any other way. Good luck with your decisison, and tell Dr. Ruthledge David said hello.
