Military Service in Iraq
Alrighty... Its an election year, And im Tired of hearing these politicians talk about Bringing the troops home. Has it EVER OCCURRED to anyone that the "Troops" that are Now deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan are there as a part of the ALL VOLUNTEER military? Has it ever occurred to voters that these soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen are there because they WANT TO BE? Last i remember, the Iraq war started long before the LATEST enlistment requirement. So speaking frankly, EVERY single member of the US armed forces in a battle arena are there because they Volunteered for military service during active combat activities. This means they KNEW what they were getting into when they signed up. They WANT to be there. they want to either make a name for themselves for a career move in the military (excellent move), or they just have a blood lust. Regardless, not a SINGLE MEMBER OF THE ARMED FORCES are there because they do not want to be. This has lasted too long, they have ALL reuped or they have signed up, but every single member knew what they were getting into. My point is, let the political process take its turn. Everyone (on the left) wants us to pull out now. Funny thing is , we are STILL in Germany after world war two, where it took almost 20 years to convert them to the democratic nation they are now, and Japan, where we still have troops stationed, it took the same amount of time to get them past Emperor worship and on the road to democracy which has led to the capitalist powerhouse japan is today. The point is, to create a democratic nation in the middle east is going to take more than a few years. After WWII, the US was at war with insurgents for YEARS before they were convinced democracy was the best path. The same holds true with Iraq. It will take time, but in the end we are all a beter world for sticking to the course set before us. And the military thats there are all there because they WANT TO BE. Peace to everyone.... DS |
