modding gadgets
I was sitting here playing with my psp and just thinking of all the gadgets that are out there you can modify. There are scripts to modify your Iphone, PSP (the newer slim is more difficult), xboxes, motorola cell phones, heck, even the Engine of your vehicle by using a chip to modify the computer in it (I use one on my Chevy Silverado for great results).
Besides the truck, Ive also modified my psp to enable me to play games directly from the memory stick instead of carrying around all those tiny Cds they come on. With a big enough mem stick you can have hundreds of games available to you at all times. They even have a modification to allow you to turn your psp into a one way cell phone (incoming)... I dont see the purpose of it, but its a start.
I ran across a really interesting magazine a few months back called MAKE. youll have to actually do a search for it, but its out there. Its a magazine on modding. They even have the code on their site to modify your "roomba" robot vacuume. How cool is that? Take your old analog mice that youve tossed into a corner and with a few cheap (pulled from dead toys) electric motors you can make a light seeking, obstacle avoiding robot.
I guess my point of this is, with alittle research, some creativity, and the right pieces of junk lying around you can do alot with what you would normally toss out. Get your old pager you tossed in the drawer 10 years ago and put the motor on top of a toothbrush head and you have a self propelled bug. I saw that video on youtube. Good luck in your modding.
