RC Helicopters
RC Helicopter flight... I just wanted to write down my frustrations with RC helicopter flight. For YEARS (actually about 20) I have dreamed of owning a RC helicopter. The first one i ever saw was in tampa Fl. when i was attending USF. There was a strohs brewery across from busch gardens that owned a WWII airfield That was used by the local RC hobby club. An old man had 3 helicopters he took out there all the time to fly and i was there every sunday to watch him play with his toys. The problem back then was the expense (as is today. its a very expensive hobby) but damn it looked fun. So last week i ended up buying a electric RC helicopter only to find the frustrations mount by the moment. Lucky for me i realized my skill level was zero so when i purchased the toy i also bought a pile of spare parts JUST IN CASE. The helicopter came with training gear which is basically carbon rods with ping pong balls attachd to the skids so you cant flip it over very easy while learning to hover. They dont work that well. Within `10 minutes I had already ruined my first set of main rotor blades (14 bucks). I just cant get it to sit in one spot and hover. It wants to slide from side to side or front to back. And no matter what i do, i cant trim it to sit still. Ive searched forums on the answer and get a million reasons why its not working. So ive ordered additional rotor blades for my next crash. The problem is now im gunshy and scared to even ttry it. so to night i went to walmart and bought an indoor mini helicopter to try and learn on. what a waste of 30 bucks that has become. It shoots skyward and flips over to crash. Lucky for me the rotors are made of a very flexable plastic and doesnt require replacements. So im working on trying to learn with this cheap model that is pure crap. so my question is WHAT TO DO.... so until i figure out how to get the trims set on my real toy im stuck with looking at it taped to my table because im scared to fly it... anyone have suggestions... hobbys shouldnt be this hard. lol |

You should start with a indoor mini coaxial heli with gyro control for around $30-The Syma S107 is the best I have found-very stable in flight-Flying out side takes more skill and bigger helicopters- never give up-took me 4 helis to find the Syma 107. It is lot of fun when you get the right product
